ISMJ: Muralization – Colour for the people of Lviv

Lviv is a colourful city and the buildings are no different. All over Lviv you will find eye catching murals painted directly on the walls. The word “mural” originates from the Latin word “murus”, meaning “wall”.

In mural art the architectural elements of the building and surrounding are harmoniously integrated into the image and the use of colour and design can alter the sensation of spatial proportions of the building. In addition, mural is the only painting technique that is three-dimensional since it partakes in and modifies a given space.

Another fundamental characteristic of mural art is the broad public significance. The artist often works with a social, religious or patriotic message in reference both to the structural exigencies of the building and to the idea expressed.

Über die International School of Multimedia Journalism (ISMJ):
Die International School of Multimedia Journalism wird vom Studienbereich Journalism & Media Management der FHWien der WKW gemeinsam mit der Ukrainisch-Katholischen Universität Lemberg (UCU School of Journalism) durchgeführt. Es ist ein Joint Programm, das österreichische und ukrainische Journalismus-Studierende miteinander vernetzt sowie das Verständnis für internationale Mediensysteme und die Medienlandschaft beider Länder fördert. Die ISMJ hat im zweiten Jahr ihres Bestehens mit der Danish School of Media and Journalism (DMJX) und dem Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) zwei weitere Projektpartner erhalten.

Die TeilnehmerInnen erarbeiten in je einer Woche in Wien und Lemberg im Tandem-Learning und mit Unterstützung von erfahrenen LektorInnen journalistische Multimedia-Projekte mit unterschiedlichen thematischen Schwerpunkten. Darüber hinaus werden Vorträge, Vorlesungen und Diskussionsrunden angeboten.
